Hello,
About 8 months ago I sanded, cleaned, brightened, and stained my cedar deck with Armstrong Clark semi-transparent cedar. As the weather warmed up again, I noticed abundant black mold and mossiness on the cedar planks. Today I re-cleaned, power washed, and re-brightened the deck. I think I was a little too over-zealous with the power washing, and I've now got a lot of white-ish areas where I believe I've taken the stain off the wood (a little fuzzy in some spots too) 🙁
My question is, would it work to apply another coat of the amrstrong clark overtop of the now somewhat spotty existing stain, or am I totally hooped & need to sand the whole thing and start over?
Thanks
Tim
If you apply now it will most likely dry unevenly. Do not sand but lightly strip off the remaining and then brighten the deck for the prep.
Thanks for your reply. I have restore-a-deck cleaner, do you think another round of that would be sufficient to remove the rest of the stain, or do you have another product recommendation that'd be more effecient?
You could try it but it is not a stripper. You want the floor evenly clean so the stain will apply even.
