My Rails, Spindles and Posts are older cedar (20+years) and I replaced the deck boards with PT Pine 2 months ago.

Would like to start staining with just the Cedar to let the PT Pine weather more. What should I use on the Cedar that would be good for a first decks stain on the PT pine later on?

Any prep on the Cedar besides Pressure washing?

Does the cedar have a stain on it currently?

No, I power washed about 2 months ago. My guess it hasn’t been stained in 6+ years Replaced rotten areas.

Want to stain it to protect it from further damage. Harsh winters of WI.

Try TWP 100 Series or Armstrong Clark Wood Stains. Clean and brighten for prep.
