OK, i thought i was all set to begin decking until i read the product reviews on this site. I removed all the old rotted decking, power washed the 2 x 12 PT joists underneath and applied rust oleum woodlife classic to the joists that are still in good shape.
I am now ready to install the 5/4 x 6 Cox UltraPine kdat decking and WAS going to use the woodlife classic, followed by a coat of oil primer and a latex/acrylic topcoat. According to the stain reviews here, i would be better off to stain with TWP, Defy or Armstrong Clark and ditch my finish plans above. It's kinda important to have my finish plans in place and the stain on site BEFORE i install the kdat decking as Cox strongly advise to apply a water repellent/stain on cut ends while installing and entire deck as soon as install is complete.
I am located in Charlotte NC and the deck gets full shade mornings and full sun in the afternoon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i am now stuck in neutral with the kdat decking stored in basement waiting on a finish decision.
Thanks! conrad
