I have an IPE deck, about 18 years old. I've used Australian Timber Oil in the past to provide a finish that would bring out the natural color of the deck but not add a "stain" color. This worked well until Maryland (my state) prohibited the sale of oil-based deck products.

I like the fact that Armstrong has a good product for IPE but I do not want a stain color. I want a clear or natural finish. What are your recommendations?

The stain has to be tinted for UV protection and so was the old ATO. The Amber color in the AC will give the same look. Basically a "wet look" to the IPE. Make sure to strip and brighten the wood for the prep.

Thanks, good to know. I have just power washed the deck, nothing to strip. Is there some material to be applied prior to the stain?

If the wood is clean then you should be good to stain.
