  1. Deck Location: Southeast Missouri
  2. Full Sun, Partial Shade, Full Shade:Partial shade, East-facing
  3. Wood Type: Pressure-treated pine
  4. Mold or Mildew Issues: Slight, in shaded corners
  5. Reason for Previous Stain Failure: Peeled (almost immediately)
  6. Previous Stain Brand and Type (Solid, Semi-transparent, Transparent, etc): Behr Deckover (solid)

Our previously beautiful deck was one of the Behr Deckover horror stories. After months of trying to get help from their customer service department when no deck staining professionals in our area would touch the mess this product had created, we finally settled with Behr and recently had a new deck floor installed over the old one. I’m sorry I don’t have access to the photos of the Behr nightmare, but I am including shots of our new deck floor and would like to know what stain you recommend. We plan to stain it next spring. Our gazebo, stairs and rails still have the Behr Deckover product on them, and we have not figured out what to do with those areas now that we have replaced the floor.

Do you want a solid stain or semi-transparent?

For the floor, we want a semi-transparent stain in which we could see the wood grain. If possible, we might like to find one that would coordinate with the solid on the rails and gazebo.

You would want a two-toned deck:  https://www.deckstainhelp.com/advantages-to-having-a-two-toned-deck/

Thank you. Do you recommend any specific brands based on our specs, or would any of those listed in the article be OK?
