live in northern indiana
about 1/4 of large pressure treated wood---2000 sq ft-- deck replaced 8 months ago
so still a mixture of lighter shaded new lumber with older ( darker) treated lumber

do not want to paint as that begins an endless battle with peeling etc etc

not sure if solid stain will ALSO begin cycle of peeling etc

in past have used semitransparent stains BUT not sure they will BLEND new and older (darker ) lumber shades

any recs?

Solid stain is basically paint so yes it will peel in your area. Best for this would be a penetrating semi-solid stain. No peeling and easier to reapply. Will blend the older and newer wood better then then a semi-trans. We like the Armstrong Clark in one of their 4 semi-solid colors:
