I live in northern New Jersey. Have a large deck that we had powerwashed about three weeks ago. I bought the 1500 cedartone TWP stain. I began to stain without stirring the cans, I'm embarrased to say. I noticed too late that about 6 boards wide are a nice golden color and then 6 boards are a brownish color, then the next couple of boards are another and so on. Would it be possible to clean off just boards that I am not happy with and then stain again.
Thanks!
You have to strip all off and brighten the wood when done. Make sure to mix all well then reapply.
Wondering if I messed up too. I stained my new deck two days ago. It rained one night later and earlier today. The color to very nicely but I'm not sure what a "good job" should look like. I have some right beading and some longer pooling of water. Any advice?
What did you use to stain this?

What did you use to stain this?
Thompsons WaterSeal
Waterproofed Plus Tinted Wood Protector
HoneyGold
Any suggestions?
You did not answer our question. What stain did you use? It is probably fine though.
Thompsons WaterSeal
Waterproofer Plus Tinted Wood Protector

Sorry did not see that. Leave it alone. I am concerned that your Thompsons is over applied. It looks like it dried on top of the surface which means it will most likely peel if you live in a cold weather state. You may have also stained too quickly and did not let the wood weather. More then likely you will need to redo this next year and adding more now will make that even more difficult.
Thanks. Live in Chicago so that may be an issue. If it peels over the winter and into Spring will I need to strip off everything and start over?

The absolute best way to insure that your deck will be properly cared for is to start from scratch. strip neutralize and restain you cant go wrong.

Yes you will. Also use a penetrating stain next Spring.
