I have a deck that needs re-doing and a new fence that needs staining/sealing.  The deck is old wood that has been painted with a semi-solid stain that never seems to even last one year before needing to be re-done. (Don't know what to do - tired of going over it again every year!)

I also have a new Cedar fence - shadowbox style - that is about 9 months old and hasn't grayed yet.  I want to stain/seal the fence and retain a beautiful cedar color.  However, I don't want to go through the same thing with the fence.   I have been reading your website commentaries and thought that, maybe, the 100 Pro Series TWP might be a good choice.  Because it has never been stained yet, I don't need to do anything in advance to the wood, right?  How would I know if it has a 'mill glaze' like I have read about on this site?  I did not build the fence.  Do I also have to 'seal' it after staining?  I thought there were products that did both.  Is that the right choice of product?

Hello,

-Where do you live?

-You have to prep new wood: https://www.deckstainhelp.com/how-long-should-you-wait-to-stain-a-new-deck/

-You cannot seal over a deck stain. No need as well.

@administrator So, is TWP 100 Pro Series the best choice for the new cedar? (In Illinois)

You need the TWP 1500 for IL: https://www.deckstainhelp.com/twp-1500-wood-and-deck-stain-review/
