Hello-I have a cumaru deck which as you know is also a brazilian hardwood. The deck was put down late last year but I have not yet stained it but planning to this Spring. I decided to start off with a sanding which will smooth as well as clean. I sanded a small section and tested with Sikkens Pro Luxe oil base stain. It darkened more than Id like but what I did not like was that if left foot prints when walked on even weeks after application. I also am worried about darkening over time. Would I be better off with a water base sealer like RAD in natural? Cumaru has many color variations which I want to maintain. Also may be better for yearly maintenance? Appreciate your thoughts.

You should not be sanding for prep. Your wood is already dense and sanding will make it even harder for the stain to soak in. The RAD Stain will cure better than the Sikkens. Might want to test some colors.
