Which top quality deck stain product would you recommend using over an Olympic red solid stain likely purchased from Lowe's a few years ago? Am open to oil or water base.
We would like to change color to a dark brown to blend with the house.
Contractors plan to power wash & use cleaner but not strip it.
Thanks!

Look at the Flood or Cabot Solid color stains.

Oil or water based?

Use water based unless you know for certain that the old Olympic was oil based.

The reviews for those two stains aren't very inspiring. Are there any higher quality options? Thank you!

The reviews you are reading are not for the solid color stains. We use the Flood Solid stain with good results.
