Brand New Deck

We are currently having a brand new deck/porch built and it is almost finished. I have a few questions on how and when to stain and with what. Here are the basic stats, with more particulars listed below: 1. State you live in: Central Virginia 2. Full Shade, Partial Shade, or Full Sun: Morning Sun, Afternoon shade 3. Type of Wood: Pressure treated pine 4. Mold or Mildew Issues: n/a New, but that could be a problem with the humidity in our area. 5. Main Issues with Previous Stains: n/a New The guy building the deck says we should wait a year before staining. It is a high traffic area since it is our front porch. We have a lot of red clay and we would like to protect it and have it stained to help hide the dirt. We don't mind waiting a few months, but a year seems a bit extreme. He also suggested Thompson's, but I see nothing positive about that brand. We would prefer to use low VOC even though it is not required in my area. We will be using the deck a lot and we have small children and dogs. Based on reading through another page on this site, it seems like the best options are TimberOil, Armstrong Clark, TWP 1500 and Defy Extreme Deck stain. For optimal results, how much time should we realistically wait to stain? Which stain option would be the best given the type of deck, location, etc? Thank you!

Building new pressure treated deck in NJ, partial shade. Hesitating between paint and stain. If stain would like solid color (white and grey). Could you advise pros/cons of solid color stains and recommend some? Thanks in advance

Solid color stain peel eventually. Some sooner than others. if you go with a solid stain than use oil based as it will perform better.

Look at Flood or Cabot solid stains.
