What is the best semi-transparent stain and solid color paint you would recommend for a south facing home. The cedar deck is about 4 years old and was stained once with a semi-transparent but didn't protect that long with a Seikens stain. The deck gets heavy traffic from kids and dog and gets full sun majority of the day. We are looking at doing the floor a semi-transparent and the rails a white. Also what would be the best cleaning product with the least amount of chemicals that you would recommend. Thanks.
For the prep, look at Restore A deck products. For the white railings, try Flood Solid Stains. Floor in TWP or Armstrong Clark. Here are some tips for a two-toned deck:
