Need help?!

Purchased a new cedar fence and stained the fence shortly after it was installed with Sherwin Williams SuperDeck - Transparent - natural color.  No big issues the first year but the stain washed off in some areas so I restained the second year.  This time Sherwin Williams changed stains on me for some other brand, Duckback.  Same color as last time.  Thats when things went wrong.  In the next spring, started to notice some mold starting on the fence so I went and got some Scotts Oxygen bleach cleaner.  When I went to clean the neighbors side of the fence I realized the mold was completely covering the fence from top to bottom and over most of the fence.

I hit the fence with the Oxygen bleach and it cleaned up alot, BUT, the fence was still very dark in some areas.  I asked Sherwin Williams and they said try their Revive which is an Oxalic Acid.  Unfortunately it didnt help.  I still have these Dark Brown patches on the fence where the mold was.  I took a couple of panels and used Sherwin Williams stain and sealer stripper on it and this finally cleaned things up but unfortunately this means I would have to strip the fence which feels like I wasted all that stain.

According to Sherwin Williams its normal that mold will cause a stain to darken.  I find this answer difficult to swallow.  Especially with how dark the fence got.

Any ideas??

Super Deck and Duck back are the same and they typically darken in color on most people. This is why we do not use it: https://www.deckstainhelp.com/superdeck-stain-review/

You will need to strip and brighten all to remove and start over.  Use the Restore A Deck stripper kits. Stain with TWP stains after. They will not darken in color.

Understood. I already contacted TWP.  My mistake was not reading up more before I stained the fence.  Just sucks to have to throw away all that work in under 3 years.  Thats what I get for trusting SW.

OK....Sherwin Williams is willing to pay for the restaining of the fence BUT TWP wont do buisness with them any more.  Dont know why, seems they had a relationship but now its gone.  They are offering a produce called "Rymar Extreme" but I dont see much online about it.  Anyone have any feedback on the product?

Sorry to ask a non-related question on this post but I can't figure out how to start a new post. I have a cedar deck that has never been stained. It is about 7-8 years old. I've already cleaned it with a Behr product and it came out clean. Am I ok with using that cleaning product and then staining with TWP 1500. Also, would I apply one coat or two? Although the deck isn't new it has never been stained. I just clean it every year so it's in pretty good shape.

As long as it is clean, you should be okay. Apply two coats of the TWP 1500 with a wet on wet application.
