Need Help Identifying Deck Wood & Stail

Looking for help identifying the type of treatment that was used on my deck.

It was likely done about 20 years ago and seems very thick - it’s very “soft” when walking on it. I can’t tell if it’s paint or stain. The only clue I have is I’m told the gentlemen who lived here prior was an old time builder and may have used something with paraffin in it. 

You can see how it is still waterproof where the doormat is from the photos. Any help is appreciated.

It is a solid color deck stain. Not sure the brand.

Thanks - what’s best steps to refinish if I have a couple spots that require sanding?

Pressure wash first and then spot sand to remove any peeling stain. Cover all intact stain with a new coat of solid stain:
