I have a 20 year old deck that has been stripped and conditioned. I live in the Chicago, IL area and my deck faces south. I am looking to destain it with an oil based product because the water based Behr product that was previously on the deck peeled off. It was a mess. Are there any good oil based stains that can be purchased at the big box stores? I don't really want to purchase the stain online without being able to see the color. Plus if I need additional product I would like to be able to have access to additional stain.
I forgot to mention that the deck receives full sun and is made of pressure treated pine. There are no mold or mildew issues. Do you know of any dealers in my area that carry the TWP or Defy product?
No good oil based stains in big box stores. I would contact manufacturers for local purchase help.
I have a 10 yo deck and I'm not sure which stain to use.
Location : central PA
Partial shade
Pressure treated wood
Just a little bit
I used Behr and it just faded away
I read your tips and reviews for a deck stain, but I'm not sure which one to buy from the TWP : 101 or 1500
I would really appreciate your help. Thank you
TWP 1500 for PA as the 100 is not allowed there.
I JUST INSTALLED A NEW CEDAR FENCE AROUND MY PATIO.WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE BEST STAIN AND PREP TO OBTAIN A CEDAR COLOR WITH A SEMI GLOSS?
LIVE IN A SUBURB OF CHICAGO WITH FULL SUN ALL DAY AND COLD WINTERS.
You cannot add a semi-gloss to exterior wood. It will imbed mold and it will peel. Try the TWP 1500 Series.
