We live in Philadelphia, PA. My husband recently completed a screen door for the front of our house. He used Spanish cedar for this project. The door faces south (receives direct afternoon sun) and is protected from rain, etc. by a 2 foot overhang. We wish to apply a clear finish that will not noticeably change the color of the wood. We spoke with a door manufacturer who uses mahogany. Their suggestion was a Pennofin product. The feedback on your site does not agree with this recommendation. What would you suggest?
Penofin would work but the clear has tint to it and will enhance the color. You need a color/tint in the stain if you want any UV protection.
