State of ct
Pool fence has it all, full sun, partial and full shade
Ceder, untreated
It does get mildew in shaded areas
Previous stain, i believe sikkens, overall performed well, lasting approx 4 full summers, although needed to be re-stained after 3.

What is best overall option?
What is best option if durability and protection lasting is primary goal?

Tim, fences can last 3-5 years or longer with a good stain. The richer the color the longer it would last. I would look at TWP 1500 or Armstrong Clark.

What impact will a 2nd coat have?
Is it worth the money?
How much extra years will i get out of it?

It will not make it last years longer. Maybe a little longer. Thicker is not always better. You want the stain to absorb into the wood properly.

So justto keep things clear, i startedthis threadwiththefollowing info:

So, after power washing and sanding, we applied sikkens certol srd re butternut yday.
I understand its a "1 coat product" but after inspecting this am, it def looks as if it 'needs' a second coat.
The absorbtion factor looks very decent, buti am curious regarding the protection factor.
If not a second coat of thesikkens, what else could I apply to elongate the time before it needs it again?
Thx for all yourhelp on this topic.

Happy 4th of July to all legal citizens of these Great United States Of America! Our Freedoms have been won and preserved upon by the most ultimate sacrifice of millions of our sons and daughters, to uphold Our Individual Rights! These are not to be assumed, but rather defended rigoursly by each and every one of us, the US Citizen, whether born within our boundaries Or properly adopted! I ask that you ponder, today, overhot dogs, hamburgers, steak, beers and soda, what have I done to preserve these rights and freedoms for my children? I look in the mirror and proclaim (for myself) NOT ENOUGH! Each and every one, playing a small but imperative role creates a powerful voice that will be heard, that must be heard.
Do you know the major banks, just yesterday, passed 'living wills'??? A corporation has the same rights as a human in these States United by the federal government? I say the rights and freedoms are First and Foremost with you and I, the individual. For we are the fiber, the backbone, the pulse, and the will of the country!
Secondly, the States. There in lies the true check and balance of our great nation, state soverignity, which has been slowly and steadily eroded. Folks, let me be clear, States must stay strong, without states rights, our republic becomes weaker, not stronger.
And lastly, i will close my July 4th statement, federal powers must be reigned in, for the power of the few is Never for the benefit of All,plain and simple my fellow citizens!
If we do not stand up and say Stop now, then when? When a drone is hovering above your July 4th party 2016? 2019?
When you have indefinite detention for an email, without due process? When you must get stripped searched for every plane ride, or street stops and search for zero cause?
I bleed the Great Red White and Blue! Like most of you, I have had family serve and pay the price. There is no better land to live in than the US of A! I will be cheering loud and hard during the summer Olympics and often shed tears when I read about young men and women who come home from around the globe drapped in Our Flag. I am a proud citizen of America, and as such, I implore each and every one of you to take one hour every month to make the USA Our Great Country!
