We just painstakingly removed gray deck paint from the top of our 500 sqft deck with a sander. I'm leaving the side boards and railings painted as they are in good shape, no peeling and are surrounded by tall landscaping bushes.
The house faces south so no direct sun in the back.
I'm completely undecided to what to use to stain. I bought Behr wood stain but after reading the review here I returned it a little while ago.
I need to buy something local (Canton, MI) shipping a product won't get here in time to finish next weekend.
I need something that will last more then a couple of years because I'm disabled and doing this kind of work is tough and can't afford to do re-buy year after year.
I was looking at the Rustoleum deck kit in the store, any suggestions on that or something that will last longer than 2 years and easy to work with?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
TWP 100 Series for this. You do not want a paint or solid stain.
Thanks for your reply. I still have paint in between the boards that I can't remove. I've used 3 strippers and a power washer. Can I stain over the paint?
Stains will not cover paints. Might be able to blend some but still will show.
