30 year old log siding with large deck.  We have been using Sikkens stains for years and the longevity just isn't good anymore.  Product just seems to wear off, the old pine just isn't holding up the the weather in the Georgia mountains with high humidity.  Need to decide on product.  Consumer reports pointing me at Olympic at Lowes and Behr at Home Depot, but the product reviews are terrible.  I don't want to do this again in 3 years, looking for longevity.  Talked to TWP, but we cannot remove all of the old product, so they are out.   Has been pressure washed and amazed at how much of the old product still remains.....looks bad.  I believe we need a solid stain?  Brand that will last ?

Just so you know, you will have to remove the Sikkens 100% if you want to use any brand of semi-transparent stain. You could cover the Sikkens with a solid color stain but you will be prone to peeling.

Nothing lasts more than 3 years. 2-3 is the max and that is why we suggest brands like these:

That can be cleaned and reapplied easily.

Sorry. Update to the last comment.

2-3 years is the max for a deck. Vertical siding will last 4-7 years.

no way to remove 100%; reviews have semi-transparent; is there a review page for solid stain?

For log homes, you would corn cob blast and that would remove 100%.

We are not fans of solid stains so we do not review or use many. The Flood Solid Stains are our go to if ever needed.

We have reviewed their SRD brand for decking. Not their log siding version. Many people use Sikkens for log siding and have good results. Doesn't work that great for decks in our experience.
