  • i live in California.

this is a new deck, redwood.

the metal used for the railing from fog and moisture has leached onto the wood.

i am wondering what the best way to remove would be?  Would it need to be sanded?

I am going to stain the deck and wood of the railing.

also what would be the best stain? TWP 1500?

thanks!

That is rust stains from the metal rails and it is deep and probably not come out fully. Best to replace those railings as they will continue to rust and then replace the bottom board.

After that clean and brighten for prep before using the TWP 1500 Series.

If the wood was stained before would the rust penetrate into the wood?
