The deck is only 7 years old but it's badly cracked and split. It should be replaced but have to paint the house first. Is there anything that can fill in and seal the cracks and splits and that could last a couple of years? If not, what else might you recommend? Since I will replace the deck at some point, I don't want to spend much on this temporary fix. The deck is 17'x16'. New top boards will cost about $700. Any help appreciated!

Mo, don't use fillers for decks. They do not work well and will not stain to blend. It is normal to have cracks in the decking, so leave it as is.
At this point, just strip off the Thompsons, brighten the wood, and then stain:
