So I live in Southern CA and I have an above ground pool and I am building a Redwood deck around it. I am confused because everything I read says to let it sit and weather before I stain it. But, I am paranoid it will fade. We like the "reds" in the Redwood and the sun is brutal here. Should I really install the whole Redwood deck and not protect it at all for 3 months?? Also, what about the pool water and chlorine? The kids will be swimming real soon and it seems the deck should be protected before it gets wet with pool water....and all the sun and heat. During construction (not done yet) I left a piece of redwood on top of another piece (crossing over it) and it already got sun-faded and we can see where the board crossed over the other. Also, which would you recommend? TWP100 or TWP1500. Thanks for keeping me away from the box box stores, I want to do this right from the get go. I really like this site and I am hoping to get some good advice here. Thanks!
Yes that is correct. Fading is okay as the cleaner and brightener will restore. The sealer will not stop pool water 100% so that really does not matter. TWP 100 is not allowed there but we would use the Armstrong Clark over the 1500 for this new wood:

The AC will penetrate deeper. It's made in CA as well.
We would love to see a picture when done.
