I am putting cedar wall shingles in my gables. Â I would like to leave them as natural as possible. Â I've been warned about tannin bleeding. Â I've been told to pre-treat them and then paint them. Â What's the point of buying cedar if you are just going to paint it. Â Is there a good transparent or semi-transparent stain that will help prevent tannin bleeding? Â I'm in the greater Vancouver area (Canada). Â Thank you for your time and help.
Don't paint them. Nothing will stop tannin bleeding but it is usually not an issue. Use TWP 200 Series or Armstrong Clark.
