Two years ago I applied a mixture of 1 quart Boiled Linseed Oil and one gallon Thompson Water Seal to my cedar porch{covered}. The application has not pealed like the application of Flood that I applied to my other covered cedar porch. I have sanded and cleaned the porch that had the Flood product application. My first question...can I use ONLY boiled linseed oil as I like the looks of the cedar with this application because it shows more wood grain and restores color. Or do you recommend another product that would give the same results? In Michigan.
Your mixture will little to no positive results for your wood. It will not have any UV protection and the linseed oil is a mold feeder. Best to use a stain that penetrates well and will not peel. They also contain mildewcides. Look at the Armstrong Clark Stain.
