I have used TWP for many years on my western red cedar deck. I am redoing this deck and putting on cypress decking.
I have been told that the decking I have coming is kiln dried and ready to be finished right after it's installation--no need to wait for it to weather first. DOES THAT SOUND CORRECT?

Will cypress stain and finish like cedar? The cypress samples I have are pretty blond in color---lighter than new cedar.

I had been using TWP's cedartone color for the old cedar deck. I found it came out pretty orange in color---I think that it might be even more orange appearing on the cypress and want to avoid that.

What TWP colors should I try on my new Cypress deck? (pecan?) I'm alright on mixing a couple of colors for the best look. IS IT OKAY TO MIX DIFFERENT TWP STAIN COLORS?

thanks in advance for any advice

TWP wants 4+ months for new wood and prepping first. I would ask them about staining sooner.

Cypress will look different than cedar. I would try some samples to test.

Not sure if being more orange, Our experience it came out lighter.

Yes it is okay to mix TWP colors to achieve a custom tint.
