late this spring, i applied TWP 1530 stain to a cedar deck which i had just stripped and brightened...the deck is on the north side of the house and gets some morning sun but not much in the afternoon...i am getting mildew on the deck and wanted to know whether there is a mild way to clear the mildew without having to brighten the deck after cleaning...

Mildew can grow on top of any stain. Is it on the surface or under the stain?

The mildew is on the surface.

That's good. Try a light cleaning with water and a mild detergent. Maybe a tiny bit of bleach.

I cleaned the deck as suggested with a mild detergent and a little bit of bleach (a few ounces of bleach for about 1.5 to 2.0 gallons of water...the deck looked great after the initial cleaning, but the mildew came charging back within about 3 weeks, and now is worse than when i first cleanded it last august...are there any preventive measures that i can take to forestall the return of the mildew...do products like TSP-PF or Jomax work with TWP stains or will they undermine the finish...i would prefer not to have to clean the deck every 4 weeks to get rid of mildew...

Afe, mold spores can grow on any surface. There is a product called "Wet and Forget". You can apply this when done and it should help reduce the mold from coming back.
