I have a cedar deck that I let weather for 1 year. Planning on putting oil stain on deck. So I tried cleaning deck with Pittsburg Paints Ultra Deck Cleaner. I applied cleaner as director using garden sprayer. I then washed deck down with power sprayer with medium stream "no high water pressure". I started to notice a white film on the deck boards. Didn't know if I should wash off which would take higher water pressure and lots of work. I didn't know if I was cleaner damaged wood. I left deck to dry and that's where I am now. What do I do now? See photo

That is damaged wood cells that need to be removed. The cleaner loosens this so you can heavy scrub or pressure wash off. Try a little more pressure and ti will come clean.

I just wanted to make sure the white film wasn't part of the wood composition and I wasn't damaging wood? Never said on deck cleaner that I would have to do anything like this. It just says, "Rinse off". The film is gummy and will take alot of work to get off.

This film is from the sun UV damage of the wood cells. Yes it needs to come off first.
