Deck addition

Prep the wood with a stain stripper such as HD80 or Restore-A-Deck Stripper then brighten. I would use TWP 1500 or Amrstrong Clark for this.

Oh - I forgot to mention that we would like to keep the wood grain if possible, even if that means the new vs. old would be obvious. Thx!

TWP 1500 looks like it only comes in semitransparent. What would you recommend that comes in semisolid and is available in MA? Thanks!

Chuck, I would look at TWP stains. Never put a polyurethane on outside wood!

It would not be a good idea to put a water based on top of an oil based stain. You would want to strip it all off if you want to do this.
