I used Behr 500 CLEAR on sanded redwood, and it was beautiful, then they changed it to 500-N, which was not fine, so I have re sanded down to the wood...

Wood filler will not work on outside wood and will not tint to blend with a semi-transparent deck stain. You may want to go with a solid stain.

Bi difference but if you spot sand you will have issues. The stain will absorb differently where you sand and that could lead to a blotchy finished ap...
