You will have to remove all the stain and start over. It is happening due to uneven application. Some brands of stain are prone to this as well.

Thank so much for your help. We'll probably try the RAD product line this time. We should use the stripper as opposed to the cleaner, correct?

Defy Extreme and the RAD would both work well and will not promote mildew/mold growth. Either would be a very good choice.

Just brightener after sanding will be fine. Use the Defy Stripper first. It will make the sanding easier.

The floor pictures do show that it was over applied and very thick. Defy is not supposed to be shiny and it shows that it dried shiny and filmed on to...
