I stained my Deck 2 years ago and I have noticed that patches on the railing are starting to peel and the wood is starting to be exposed. How do I repair these small patches as I don't want to repair the whole railing. Is it possible to just to sand back these sections and re-stain? I don't want to use a stain remover as I'm concerned that splashes will cause damage to other parts of the deck.

Hello, you cannot spot stain a deck and have it blend with the old stain. You will need to prep and stain all the wood for proper appearance. If you do not care that it will look blotchy, then yes you could spot sand and spot stain but it will not look good when done.
