Why do all the stain colors look the same on my deck?

Hi, I've stripped, sanded, brightened, and applied test patches of different colors in the TWP 1500 series. All of the colors look the same and are much darker than I'd expect. Is there something wrong with my deck prep?

The railings look good but the floor still looks a little gray. Did you shake or mix the samples well?

Yes, I mixed them well. Here's the same samples on a scrap piece of wood...lots of color variation.

It has to do with how old your wood, very absorbent and older wood will show less color.
