I am in process of replacing a very old deck (full sun in south-east Louisiana) and was looking into using SYP KDAT material and stain with either TWP100 or Restore-A Deck semi transparent however am finding information from the wood & stain manufactures confusing. Information in this site matches stain manufactures (TWP & others) that indicate you need to wait a couple of months before applying their stain to KDAT, however the wood manufactures( yella-wood & others), indicate that one advantage to KDAT lumber is that it can be stained immediatley and must be kept protected until it has been weather-proofed with stain, etc... The KDAT SYP lumber I priced locally is way more expensive than the "wet stuff" and I certainly don't want to waste that money. What will happen to the KDAT if I install and wait 2-months to apply stain or should I just go with the "wet stuff"? Please help clear up this confusion.
You cannot stain KDAT right away, that is false: https://www.deckstainhelp.com/staining-a-new-kdat-deck/
