About 1 1/2 years ago we used TWP 1500 series to stain a new cedar deck
We live in upstate NY, deck gets Southwest exp, no mold or mildew. It was the same stain we used on our front deck which gets northwest exposure and is partially covered. Not taking that into account we used the same stain as explained above and of course it has completely faded. What stain do you recommend so that it won't fade and how do we best prepare the deck for the new coat of stain? Is a paint a better option???
Thank you

All stains fade and it is normal to have to restain new wood withing 1-2 years of the first time staining. We would stay with the TWP 100 Series and recoat every 2 years as that will be normal down the road. If you want to try a different brand, strip and brighten for the prep and try a semi-solid color by Armstrong Clark. Semi-solids will give slightly better UV protection. Stay away from solids stains or paints as they have a tendency to peel and will be harder to maintain.
