Deck Stain Questions and Answers

Help! I have an old deck that has old oil-based semi-solid stain. On top of that (but much of it has just gone) is solid acrylic latex stain. I assume I have to use solid color stain and I'm OK with that. But what else do I need to know and what do I do before I stain? You can see the blue oil-base stain, the beige acrylic latex, and what I guess is just wood in the photo after it was cleaned and pressure-washed.
