I understand that the milling process does not allow the stain to penetrate. Previously we have rough sanded all boards (100 grit palm sander) to get rid of the glaze. Is this sufficient to get rid of the mill glaze and how long do we have to wait to stain if we sand before we contruct the deck?

60 grit is better for stain penetration. Let weather for a few months, clean and brighten for the prep.
