Hello,
Our family went through the process of sanding our entire deck, cleaning, brightening, etc. Timing was critical with the weather, but we started staining on a Sunday afternoon. With the sprayer, I thought I would get done, but was only able to get the interior fencing & deck surface completed. With the exterior fencing, we completed about 1/4 of that. As luck would have it, when I looked at the weather the next morning, I knew we would not be able to finish because storms were moving in. It started raining @ 6:00 that evening and it has done nothing but rain for 2-3 weeks now. I cannot remember the last time we had two consecutive days without rain.

Anyway, I know from what I have read in this great forum that I need to clean/brighten the deck again before proceeding, but my question is, will a cleaner/brightener hurt what was just put down? What we did finish, looks great and I would hate to do something to ruin it.

Can I just spray the cleaner/brightener on the unfinished part, rinse away, let dry, and finish the job without issue? There is just no way to prevent some of the cleaner/brightener from getting on the finished deck. Does it depend on the cleaner/brightener?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks so much,
Pat

The cleaner and brightener will not harm the newly applied finish.

We finished staining , storms moved in unexpected rain, we quickly covered for a short period and removed as soon as it stopped. On the lower vertical boards on skirting at bottom on the side that boards were touching the dirt the stain washed away because of standing water I suppose, can we go back over the bottoms with another coat just where it has washed off. Thank you

Yes you should be able to do that.
