Are there any products available on the market that will provide a clear/no color finish with a glossy finish? We have an exterior Mahogany deck and we used to be able to purchase truly clear finish that left the deck looking like interior hardwood floors. Beautiful. See attached photo. I suspect that those products are no longer available due to EPA regulations. Are there any products on the market that will provide the same affect? We have tried many products, most of them leaving a dull finish, and that remain tacky, have blackish spots that come to the surface, yellow tint in the finish color, and other undesirable outcomes, and never any gloss or sheen. We sand the deck every year, and start with a fresh surface.

Applying a clear glossy finish is not a good idea for exterior horizontal wood and it is highly suggested not to do this:

Thanks. We did not use poly or any other kind of varnish. It was an oil-based finish that dried with a sheen, as you can see in the pictures. It was a totally clear finish, and was beautiful and held up very well. It was not the kind of finish like poly, etc. that peeled or cracked. As I said above, I suspect that there must have been new regulations after around 2010 regarding acceptable chemicals that can be contained in paint, deck finishes, etc., so that there is really no such thing as a truly clear finish--most have a yellow tint even though they say that they are clear, and nothing that leaves a sheen.
