I am considering going with a dark stain on our deck. The Deck is located on the North Side of our house and gets good shade from 2 large hickory trees until 1-2pm, then gets full sun till 5:30 or 6pm in the summer. My question is, will the darker stain be noticeably hotter due to is color over a cedar or pecan tone? too hot for bare feet? Does anyone have first hand experience with a dark deck and the temps. I live in Arkansas and the summers can get pretty warm/humid...this year being an exception...

In theory a darker stain can retain more heat but honestly we have never had any customers complain to use about it after we have applied the Dark Oak or the Black Walnut.
