We are replacing the white cedar planking and rails on our deck now in May. Since this is new wood, I understand that we should wait several months before staining. I am looking at the Wood Tux product, but there is no review of this brand at your site. You have provided comments about the TWP brand. We live in northern Illinois so weather extremes will happen. I would like to stain it before the cold weather hits, possibly in September or early October. I would appreciate your advice and recommendations.

We have used Wood Tux previously withe mixed results. it does not peel and can give good UV protection. It does have issues sometimes with drying. Takes a long time. Both are quality stains. We actually like the other Woodrich brand called Timber Oil for new wood. It penetrates much better into new wood.
