Our deck (photo attached) was built a year ago. The decking is TimberTech, so no stain required. What might the best brand/type of stain options be for just the support posts, beam and facia? Our color preference would be an approximate match to the railing color (darker grey/brown), which it seems may require some level of pigmentation. Thanks in advance!

Prep first with Restore A Deck Cleaner/Brightener kit. Stain with Restore-A-Deck in Dark Walnut or TWP in Dark Oak.

Thanks for the reply. I neglected to mention that we are in Nebraska. For the TWP stain, would you suggest the TWP 100 or TWP 1500? It appears the 100 is OK for NE and the dark oak color in that type looks better to us than the same color in the 1500 (on the website). Maybe they are really about the same.

After getting a sample of the TWP 100 in Dark Oak, I think we may need to go with a more solid stain for better color match and color uniformity between the support posts (rough) and the beam cover/facia (smooth).

The PPG store here in Omaha carries the Flood Pro Series Solid Color stain and also the Flood Pro Semi-Opaque, both with some good color options. And numerous outlets carry the Cabot Solid Color stain (perhaps in both alkyd and acrylic versions?) with numerous color/tinting options.

In reading here on the site about the solid stains, it sounds like your preference would be the Flood. Any further thoughts/advice in this regard?

Also, the PPG store offers the Sikkens product, which the counter person referred to as "top of the line" (but with color options much the same as the TWP 100, which they also offer). I thought it interesting, too, that the PPG store was showing NO Pittsburgh brand deck stains.

Thanks again!

We like the Flood Pro Series. Sikkens is way over-rated and Cabots has fallen since they changed formulas.
