I live in Illinois and installed a pressure treated pine deck 4 months ago. There was a tree next to my deck that produced some berries that fell and stained the new pine. The tree has now been removed, but the stains remain. Should I use a deck cleaner or stripper to first try and remove this stain? Also, some of the boards appear to have black mildew and a few are greying.
Second question, some of the 8x8 posts used have a very strong green color to them from the green treat? Should I sand the outside down or stain over the green on these 8x8 posts?
Last, how do most people remove the ink stamps the lumber company put on the lumber before staining? I assume sandpaper w/orbital sander? I am worried about creating a cup that will hold water.
Thanks for your advise,

This is what you should do:
1. Sand off the ink stamps with a palm sander suing 80 grit
2. After sanding, let the wood site for 1-3 months. You need to do this so the spot sanding does not stand out.
3. Use both a deck cleaner and wood brightener to remove the graying, mildew, and berry stains after the wait. Use Restore A Deck Kits. Do not use a stripper.
4. Stain over the green in the posts. There is nothing you can do about this as it is throughout the wood.
