Hello - I had a new pressure treated pine deck installed in April of 2015 and then stained with Armstrong Cedar Tone Transparent stain in August of the same year. Before staining the deck was cleaned and brightened using restore a deck cleaner and brightener. Initially the stain looked great, but by October many of the boards had begun to turn dark and discolored.

I tried washing them with soap and water and a stiff brush, but that seemed to take most of the stain completely off.

My questions are, why did this happen so quickly (I was expecting to have to restain once a year or so), what should i do now about it and how do i prevent it from happening again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

thank you

Sorry for the delay. We have had a few issues with the website. The deck does not look normal and I am not sure what the cause. Have you contacted AC about this? They will be able to narrow down the cause.

If I were to guess, it looks like dirt has imbedded into the stain.
