I hired a painting contractor to pressure wash and stain my 3 year old never stained deck. They are using mold avenger and detergent to pressure wash the deck. After 2 washes, the wood still has a greenish tint in some areas that can be scraped off with my nail. The contractor says the mold and algae has been killed and the remaining greenish color is fine to stain over. I am very skeptical. I got a few patches very clean with a household cleaner, but after reading the label I saw that it contained bleach so I won't use it. Should I allow the contractor to stain the deck? or request that he try an additional product (for an additional cost of course)?

There is still mold (black spots) and algae (green) in that deck. You could try two things. A deck cleaner that contains sodium percarbonate. This would be Defy Wood Cleaner, RAD products, etc. Other option is bleach. We are not fans of bleach but sometimes it is needed. One part bleach to 4 parts water. Apply, wait 10 minutes then rinse.
