It all needs to be removed if you want the new coating to work correctly.

For at least the last 15 years or so I have bought a deck stain (best recollection is that it was Olympic Maximum, but not certain of this) at Lowes that they don't sell anymore--must have just been discontinued this year. It was nasty stuff--the kind that could create spontaneous combustion on rags and mops that you used to apply it. Instructions called for putting all rags and such in an empty stain can filled with water then sealed shut. I'm supplying this detail because I now need to find it to restain over an existing deck and want a color match. Anyone know what it's called and if it still exists?
