The siding on our 30 year old home has never been stained or painted. It is all Cypress wood that has now been cleaned, sanded and prepped to receive a stain. We live in Virginia Beach about 3-5 mile from the Atlantic Ocean and half of the house is exposed to sun 10-14 hours a day. We would like a semi-transparent stain. Which stain would last the longest without graying? would applying a surface protector like polyurethane or something else be beneficial?

Thanks, Chuck
