Apologies for posting in more than one section but I am seeking feedback on a few things.

Situation: made mistake of using Behr's semi-transparent cedar natural tone 7 years ago and now feel "locked-in" to the color, etc. Restained three years ago without issue. Doing so again this year, I have a problem: stain has not properly cured. 10 days after application, the stain feels very slightly tacky in places and can be lifted in strips with a mere scrape of a finger-nail, like a latex film. (Stain was applied when overnight temperatures hovered just over or under 50F and the second coat was applied overly thick - contributing factors I am certain).

Questions/feedback please:

1) What's the possibility the stain will still cure onto the surface and stop peeling?

2) If I opt to strip and re-stain again, will a good-quality stripper like Restore-a-Deck be effective in removing this very recently applied stain (i.e., as opposed to weathered stain)?

3) Can I get away with spraying stain over the railing spindles without stripping? (I might replace the deck outright in a year or so and just want it to look decent until that time).

Finally, if I re-do the whole thing, do I need to apply a sealer after the stain? (I used to think you either used a sealer/replement OR a stain on the native wood but not both).
