We have a deck with smooth planed cedar planks that was built and stained with "Ready Seal" a year ago. The stained planks look fine except where they are in the sun most of the time, where I guess sunlight has faded it into splotches that are lighter.

Do I need t strip the deck's original stain before restaining it or would it be advisable to just clean it with an oxygen-based cleaner and use a different brand, darker stain over it?

Any helpful advice is appreciated.
