I put in a new 5/4 x 6" yellow pine large deck in '09 and waited until '10 to stain with One Time Wood Stain which was to last for 6 years. Two years later it faded badly. After speaking with Sherwin Williams rep, I used SW deck cleaner and followed with SW Latex Stain per their recommendation. It is now two years later and the deck, walkways, railings, etc. are peeling badly and I don't know what to do or what to use. The large deck faces north and is for the most part in the shade. The other areas do get sun and some shade. I live in Cleveland, OH. which gets lots of rain, snow and summer sun. What should I do and use for the deck? I am lost here!
