deck is 2yr old cedar deck previously stained with Benjamin Moore Arbor Coat. Been fighting this peeling problem since after the first Wis. winter. Although we followed the prep instructions to a t, BM is saying the stain failed because wood grain is too tight, pores not open to accept stain. The arbor coat system had a deck wash and sanding process that was suppose to open the pores, so I still don't get why it failed. It did not state cedar wood needs to weather if that is really the problem. When this product is off and ready for new stain,
1. does the wood still need to weather before we prep for a new product?
2. Was sold on TWP, but after reading some absorbing issues on this site, is that still the product you would recommend? Deck gets afternoon/evening sun.
3. We have an attached screened in porch that has absolutely no peeling issues at this point and was stained/built the same time we did the open deck. Is color matching any possibility?
Thanks for your advice!!
